Yuval Gotlibovich is a multifaceted artist, performer, composer, and teacher. His artistic endeavors are diverse, encompassing a wide range of musical and cinematic projects. As a multi-award-winning viola player, Yuval has secured first prizes in prestigious competitions such as the Lionel Tertis (UK), Fischoff (USA), and Aviv (Israel). His debut album with the Catalan Chamber Orchestra, featuring the viola music of Ramón Paus, was released under the NAXOS record label and achieved international acclaim, ranking among the top ten best-selling Naxos albums worldwide in its first month. Yuval’s passion for performing, improvisation, and composition has led to a series of silent films with original music composed by him. These works are performed by small chamber groups, often as duo with his twin brother, cellist Jonathan Gotlibovich. Notable films include “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” (commissioned by the ´Are More ´ Festival in Spain), “Nosferatu” (commissioned by the Ciudad Monumental de Cáceres Festival), “The Golem” (commissioned by Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid), and most recently, “The Passion of Joan of Arc” (commissioned by the Holstebro International Festival). Yuval’s upcoming album releases include the Viola Concerto by Anton Garcia Abril with the Real Filarmonia de Galicia, conducted by Paul Daniel, and recently releasd Menachem Wiesenberg’s Encounters IV and Concertino with the Beethoven Philharmonie, conducted by Thomas Roesner. His innovative arrangement of J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations in various musical styles has been recorded for Sony. His Sonata for Viola and Piano premiered at the Tokyo Opera by Nobuko Imai and Izumi Tateno, and has since been performed throughout Japan and featured at the International Viola Congress in Rotterdam. Yuval also composed the music for the documentary film “Pantalla Rasgada,” directed by Gerardo Gormezano. Yuval has been the artistic director of the festival ´ Ciudad Monumental de Caceres´ for the past seven years, together with Juan Lluis Orozco. Yuval is a dedicated educator, serving as a viola professor in Switzerland and Spain. He has also been a professor at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where he studied under his mentor, Atar Arad.
