Zoran Marković
Double bass
Zoran Marković is one of Slovenia's leading double bassists. After graduating from the Academy of Music in Podgorica and completing his master's degree at the Faculty of Musical Arts in Belgrade, he continued his studies with distinguished teachers in Venice, Cremona, Munich and Salzburg.
As a soloist, Marković has performed with the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra, Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, and numerous other European ensembles. An acclaimed chamber musician, he has appeared at festivals including the Oxford Chamber Music Festival, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, Storioni Festival, Sonoro, I Suoni delle Dolomiti, and the Stiftfestival.
From 1990 to 2004, he served as principal double bassist of the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2004, he has been Senior Lecturer at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, while also teaching at international summer academies across Europe. In recent years, he has expanded his artistic activities to conducting symphonic and opera repertoire.
Alongside his performing and teaching career, Marković is an innovator in instrument design. His ZMT (Zoran Marković Tailpiece) is the result of years of research and development, designed to enhance the acoustic performance of string instruments.
