Zoran Marković gained a master's degree at the University of Belgrade, continuing his studies in Venice, Cremona, Munich and Salzburg. While studying he was successful in many competitions both in Finland and abroad. He has performed as soloist with the Slovenian and Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestras and the Detmold Chamber Orchestra, and has worked with several European chamber music ensembles.
From 1990 to 2004 he was leader of the double bass section in the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, and since 2006 he has been a regular guest of the Slovenian Radio Symphony Orchestra. He teaches at the Ljubljana Music Academy and gives many masterclasses all over the world. In recent years his skills have extended to conducting, with some success: he is the main guest conductor of Austria's Feldkirch Orchestra. Marković is also founder and Managing Director of ZMT Tailpiece, a company that specialises in tailpieces for stringed instruments.
