Robbrecht Van Cauwenberghe (1995) is regarded as one of the best young bayan players of his generation. Recently, he made his appearance in productions of de Nederlandse Reisopera, Theater Sonnevanck, Festival Dag in de Branding & Holland Opera and in 2021 he became a member of the Amsterdam-based Oorkaan Ensemble. Furthermore, he regularly performs for radio and TV, e.g. a one-week residence in “Opium” (NPO Radio 4), the 2022 Avrotros Lenteconcert (NPO 2) as well as the TV-show Podium Witteman (NPO 2), where he was invited as “Young Hero”.  As a chamber musician, Robbrecht is frequently heard on national and international stages, e.g. Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Grachtenfestival, Bachfestival Dordrecht, Ghent Festival van Vlaanderen, International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht as well as in many Dutch theatres with partners as violinist Coraline Groen, pianist/actress Valentina Tóth & soprano Brigitte van Hagen. In 2021 he made his Stift debut with Gubaidulina’s double concerto Sieben Worte for cello and bayan.  He received regular lessons from An Raskin at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and Janne Rättyä at the Kunstuniversität Graz (Austria) and holds a degree in musicology from the Catholic University in Leuven (Belgium).  Robbrecht plays a Jupiter Bayan (Russian type of accordion) which was especially built for him in Moscow.
