Ivan Petrenko is a young Ukrainian pianist known for his refined artistry and deep musical sensitivity. He is a prizewinner of several international competitions, including first prizes at the Yevhen Stankovych Competition in Kyiv, the “Merci, Maestro!” Competition in Belgium and the WPTA Spain International Piano Competition. He also received second prize at the Schumann Piano Competition in Düsseldorf. Most recently, he was selected for AVROTROS’s talent programme Virtuoos.
As a soloist, Ivan has performed with ensembles including the Davidsbündler Chamber Orchestra, Amsterdam Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra and Kyiv Camerata Orchestra. In 2023, he took part in the RCO Young project, performing at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and Berlin’s Konzerthaus.
His recital appearances include performances at the Chopin Festival in the Netherlands and the Young Virtuosos series in Slovenia. He has also appeared on the Dutch television programme Podium Klassiek.
Ivan has collaborated in chamber music settings with artists such as Quirine Viersen, Anna Fedorova, Daniel Rowland and Maja Bogdanovic. He began studying piano at the age of four and made his concert debut at seven. Since 2022, he has studied at the Davidsbündler Music Academy with Tatiana Abaieva and Borys Fedorov, while also pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Codarts Rotterdam under the guidance of Nino Gvetadze.
