After initial piano lessons, Evelien heard a cello in a concert and decided\u00a0that was what she wanted to do in life. She\u00a0studied with Dmitri Ferschtman and at Indiana\u00a0University in Bloomington with Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.\u00a0As a student, she played in the European Community Youth Orchestra.\u00a0She holds a part time position as principal cellist with the Dutch Ballet\u00a0Orchestra, at Dutch National Opera and Ballet in Amsterdam.
\nIn Spain, \u00a0she has been a guest principal cellist with the Orquesta Ciudad\u00a0de Granada,\u00a0and she was invited recently several times as guest principal with the\u00a0Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra and the Amsterdam Based Pop-Up\u00a0Orchestra.\u00a0She is a regular guest with Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Royal\u00a0Concertgebouw Orchestra and plays with the exciting\u00a0new Dutch group LUDWIG.
\nWith Ludwig, she participated in the recent tours with soprano Barbara Hannigan,\u00a0to Italy in 2016 and December 2017 the \u201cCrazy Girl Crazy \u201c tour all\u00a0across Europe. In the 2019 season LUDWIG toured France, Belgium,\u00a0Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and California with a Stravinsky\u00a0program.
\nIn January 2020 Evelien toured as principal cellist with Camerata RCO\u00a0to Colombia, playing and teaching at the Cartegena Music Festival. She\u00a0also has been coaching the cello section of \u201cla Joven\u201d, Colombias\u00a0National Youth Orchestra in Baranquilla, where they prepared Bruckner\u00a08.<\/p>\n

Together with violinist Hebe Mensinga, she was part of the Delos\u00a0Ensemble touring the Netherlands, Syria, Libanon, Bosnia, France and\u00a0the UK.\u00a0Active in the field of chambermusic, Evelien recently performed a Solo\u00a0Program of Bach and Ligeti in Freiburg, Germany and in the Swiss town\u00a0Neuch\u00e2tel.\u00a0Last summer she played Schubert Octet with Camerata RCO at Cinque\u00a0Terre International Music Festival, in Trecastagni International Music\u00a0Festival with Patricia de la Vega, and Daniel Rowland and Maja Bogdanovic.<\/p>\n
